Empowering Women Who Lead
Leadership can be heavy work. It’s rewarding, but it can also be lonely, exhausting, and deeply personal. I started Shattering the Glass Ceiling to change the conversation about what leadership should feel like—especially for women in education who are navigating their way, building confidence, and balancing the many demands of their roles.
This work is rooted in my experience as a principal, researcher, and advocate for leader well-being. I know the challenges that come with visibility, pressure, and the constant pull to be “on.” I also know that when leaders are supported, entire schools thrive.
What I Do
Coaching and Consulting
I work with women who are new or aspiring leaders, including principals, assistant principals, and teacher leaders, who want to grow with clarity and purpose. Together, we explore leadership identity, balance, and the personal systems that sustain long-term success.
Workshops and Professional Learning
I design sessions that blend research and real experience. Topics include:
Leadership well-being and resilience
Navigating stress and burnout in education
Building confidence and managing imposter feelings
Creating school cultures that support leader and teacher wellness
Speaking Engagements
I speak to schools and organizations about the power of presence, balance, and authenticity in leadership. These talks remind women that strength and compassion can coexist—and that leading well starts with being well.
About Me
My path to leadership was anything but traditional. I did not begin as a classroom teacher, and for many years, that made me feel like an outsider in the education field. What I have come to understand is that my route gave me something rare — a deep understanding of how schools truly operate and how people within them thrive or struggle. That perspective is now what makes me effective as a leader and as a coach to others, helping them find their own way.
I began working in schools more than a decade ago, first as an administrative assistant to the principal and CEO, and later in roles that connected me to every part of a school’s daily life. I saw how culture is built, how systems either support or strain people, and how small choices shape the larger climate of trust. I learned that leadership is not just about instruction or policy. It is about people, purpose, and presence.
Step by step, I grew into new roles, each one teaching me something about how to listen, how to lead through challenge, and how to stay grounded in empathy and accountability. I earned my degrees while raising my children and serving my school community, often balancing coursework, meetings, and family all in one day. Those years taught me the power of persistence and the importance of leading by example.
Since February 2022, I have served as the Principal of a high school. Every day, I draw on my own experiences to lead a community that values both excellence and humanity. I understand the operations, the data, and the decisions behind running a school, but I never forget that leadership begins with people.
Through Shattering the Glass Ceiling LLC, I help women in education find their confidence, voice, and balance in leadership. My story is proof that there is no single path to becoming an effective leader. We do not have to fit the mold to make an impact. We simply have to show up, keep learning, and lead from who we are.
The truth is that leadership is learned from every seat in the room. My journey taught me that understanding every layer of a school, from the front desk to the principal’s office, creates leaders who are not only capable but compassionate. That is the kind of leadership our schools, and our world, need most.
